About American League Park I
American League Park stood at Florida and Trinidad Avenues NE in Washington and hosted the American League Senators' major league debut on April 29, 1901, before a crowd of about 10,000 that included Admiral George Dewey. During the 1902 season, announcer E. Lawrence Phillips used a megaphone there to call out lineups, a practice credited as baseball's first public address announcing. The park's grandstand was later moved and rebuilt as American League Park II.
