About Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum
The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum was built for track and football, but it became the Dodgers' temporary home for four seasons after the team moved west from Brooklyn in 1958. Its layout forced an extremely short left-field line, just past 250 feet, so a tall screen was installed to keep cheap home runs in check until Dodger Stadium opened in 1962.
