Municipal Stadium

Municipal Stadium began in 1923 as Muehlebach Field, built by George Muehlebach for his minor league Kansas City Blues, and it also hosted the Negro Leagues' Kansas City Monarchs for decades. The ballpark was renamed Ruppert Stadium after Yankees owner Jacob Ruppert bought the Blues in 1937, then Blues Stadium in 1943. It was torn down and rebuilt from scratch in just 90 days ahead of the 1955 season to host the newly relocated Kansas City Athletics, and later the expansion Royals through 1972.
