Starting Pitcher Access

Playing an exhibition game. When I go in to access the starting pitcher for the game it gives me a drop down box of what appears to be the top four pitchers who had the most starts. But as we know often there are others who had “spot starts” etc. is there a way to access ALL potential starting pitchers, not just the top 4?

Not piling on here but on another note. The Expos were down 6-1 in the 8th and the computer manager allowed Expo reliever Darold Knowles to bat. 😳

Yeah, I don't doubt that happens. We don't use AI in the game itself (though we use the term, AI) so we have to use logic and there's probably a bug or two there in the decision making. I've seen this and other things like in the bottom of the 9th the AI manager doesn't pinch-hit for a relief pitcher (ouch!). We'll have a look into this one.

Oh ... about this: "is there a way to access ALL potential starting pitchers, not just the top 4?"
How would you define all potential starting pitchers? Just any pitcher who started a game? I think that would be a good definition but any other ideas?

So within the 78 season all that is accessible as far as the Cardinals go for starters are: Vukovich, Denny, Martinez and Forsch. Those four started 112 games. This means others started 50 game games. Pete Falcone started 14, John Urrea started 12, Eric Rasmussen started 10, not to mention a few others. These guys, are not accessible. This made up 1/3rd of the rest of the Cardinals starts. So I’m hoping that at some point these other pitchers become accessible.

Yes to me. Anyone who started a game should be accessible to the player as someone who can start.

I think that's a good guidepoint. One thing though is to realize that if I were to let Dick Drago start for Boston in '79, I shouldn't expect that he'll go 7 innings without getting tired (probably sooner around 5th and 6th) but I do think it's reasonable to allow a spot start for him (even though in '79 I think he only started 1 or 2 games that year ;)).

Oh btw, Marc (one of our developers) tells me this one is ready to go. Have a look and let us know what you think.

Thank you for your quick work on this. I’ll give it a look. In clarification, I’m not so concerned about having access to the pitcher who started 2 games that season. But rather having access to those who made a significant number of starts. In what I referenced above, the Cardinals that season had three pitchers who started 10+ games. Those guys were not accessible, and my feeling was it would be great if they were. Thank you for your efforts in making this great game even BETTER!
