Draft League

Started by Orphan58 (joined · 31 posts · 60 karma) , ago (edited ago)

For drafts, I want to
1. Name my league and use my team names.
2. Multiple leagues and divisions within leagues.
3. Specify the number of draft rounds.
4. Specify the draft sequence, either direct or serpentine.
5. Draft for all teams.

I have created leagues in Strat-O-Matic Baseball and Digital Diamond Baseball. See the information about the Strat-O-Matic Baseball league at https://sites.google.com/view/geezer-league-baseball

General suggestion
Remove the idea that I'm assigned to manage one team. When I play a game, I choose to manage one team, both teams, or neither team.

You can do almost everything you've asked for in the draft mode except specify the type of draft and the duration.

Could you clarify what you mean by item #3, "Specify the number of draft rounds"?

Right now, the draft is set to 30 rounds to fill all 30 roster spots.

Are you suggesting that you'd like to manually draft a certain number of rounds and then have the computer automatically complete the remaining rounds? If so, that should already be possible using the auto-draft option.

If you have something else in mind, let me know so I can better understand what you're looking for.

I would want the number of rounds to be variable. The Strat-O-Matic Baseball roster is limited to 40 players: 25 batters and 15 pitchers. Our leagues draft 40 players. I want to draft at least 40 players and remove the roster limit of 25 batters and 15 pitchers.

I think we only need to maintain a minimum number of pitchers and position players to make sure simulated games work properly. That said, I don't see any reason we couldn't increase the roster size while keeping those minimum requirements in place.

We could allow anywhere from 30 to 40 players per team, with the roster size selected when setting up the draft league.

Hey Orphan, have a look at the draft season options now. Let me know if that works for you. Also, open to other ideas here as well.

I'm wondering Harlin if he wants the ability to increase/decrease/set the number of rounds?

Put a picture of Dave Parker on my profile, hopefully you can see it...

Hey Cobra, I can see it but it seems to be cutting off. I'll see if I can get that fixed for you.

I think I have it fixed to where you can zoom and then move your avatar until it displays as you want.

I think allowing for say 40 rounds/players so you have a 25 man roster and 15 man farm which allows adds/drops injury replacement.

Also what about legacy so if I use say 1975 and then finish and move to 76 all players still playing stay with the teams from 75 with an option before the draft starts to release anyone….just a thought

I love this idea :-)

We *could* make 25 man active roster work, but for sim'd games to work as most users expect them to around here, we generally have to have about 30 players minimal on an active roster.

Thoughts on 30 active / 10 or 15 inactive?

Exactly

Another thought would it be possible to split a season into halves so if I have 6 teams play say 48 games in each half and then first half winner plays second half winner if different

Hmm, something like the 1981 MLB season? That was an unusual, one-time arrangement in baseball history. But given how we've designed Custom Seasons, I think something like this could be possible. I had a feeling people would come up with all sorts of interesting scenarios and this is a good example.
