Real lineups / starting pitchers

Harlin,

Do you ever sleep? :-)

Seriously, I wake up this morning to see that they have been added in. Wondering though from reading the description in the change log if it would be possible to have an option to disable injuries if you were using real lineups and starters.

Do these also include real life transactions?

To me these are not new feature requests but quality of life improvements to Features you have just built in.

Super excited to see this play out!

Will

Hah, no I don't sleep a lot. Usually 4-5 hours a night.

You do have that option to not have injuries when you create a season of any kind.

Hope this helps!

Thanks! Apologies. Really heaven Doug too much into the season replay side of things as I've been playing a lot of single game mode. :)

Love the actual line up thanks, question on the transactions here is an example playing the 69 Mets, Kevin Collins was with the Mets until the 4th of May when he was sent to Montreal but I notice he is with Montreal at the start of the season so wondering does he move back to the Mets when he starts his first game 19 April and then back to Montreal? He does play in 4 games for the Mets before his first start.

Small issue just wondering, again thanks for the game and always excited to see what’s new

Thanks, glad you're enjoying the real lineups!

Good catch on Kevin Collins. Right now a player who changed teams during a real season stays with one club for the whole year, and for 1969 that's the team he finished with, so Collins is an Expo from Opening Day. He doesn't go back to the Mets for his April 19 start.

When the real lineup calls for a player who isn't on that team's roster, the game starts someone from the Mets bench in his place. If you want it to match history, you can use Move to... on the Mets' Active Roster page to bring him over at the start of the season and send him back to Montreal after May 4.

Real trades and call-ups that happen on their actual dates are on our list, and your Collins example is now part of that work.

Anyways, thanks again for the kind words!

Hi Harlin,
I saw the note below in the changelog, but can you confirm where the real lineups and SPs can be turned on? Can it be done if you've already started a season? I checked the lineup tab in my season dashboard, but I may have missed something. Or are the real lineups automatically loaded as you go. Thanks for your help.

Turning on Real lineups and starting pitchers for a full season now turns injuries off, so real lineups and rotations stay intact. Seasons already using real lineups have injuries turned off too, and anyone who was hurt is back on the field.

replying to @RJM

Thanks for asking! Real lineups and starting pitchers is a checkbox on the Season Options page, the second step when you start a new full season, right after you pick your team. Check "Real lineups and starting pitchers" before you click Start Season. It works for AL and NL seasons, and checking it turns injuries off for that season.

It isn't loaded automatically, and right now it can't be turned on for a season you've already started. That's why you didn't see it on the Lineup tab. To use it, start a new season with the box checked. Once it's on, each game starts the lineup and pitcher each team really used that day, and your own team's pregame lineup starts out as the real one, which you can still change.

Hope that helps!

The code confirms the setting only appears in new-season setup (options.html:55), and no existing issue covers turning it on for a season already in progress. If you want that, I can file an issue for it. Be forwarned, it is taking a while for me to work through what's getting to be a huge backlog of issues/requests.

Thanks for the clarification! That makes sense why I can’t see it then lol. I don’t think you need to add it to your growing list, unless you get a ton of requests. In my case, I’m only at the very start of a season so I’ll just restart it. Thanks again, and congrats on all the progress you’ve made with the game. It really is best in class already.

Thanks very much for the kind words. Really appreciate you playing! I'll add that as a request.

In using the real starting lineups mode does the auto managers still add and drop players?

Harlin (joined · 239 posts · 389 karma) , ago

Good question! Yes, they do. The real lineups option only decides who starts each game, so automatic roster moves keep running as usual. The computer-managed teams will still send down a player who is hitting or pitching very poorly and call up a replacement. If you'd rather handle your own team yourself, go to your team's Roster page and uncheck "Automatic roster moves."

Because of those moves, a real starter for a given day may not be on the active roster, or he may be injured. When that happens, the manager plays someone else in his spot and the game log says who and why. Real mid-season trades and call-ups on their actual dates aren't in the game yet, but they're on my list.

Hope that helps!

Thanks Harlin,

Answers my question! The mid season trades and call ups would be the icing on the cake!

Great fun and thanks for letting us offer the input
