Baseball Changelog

-
Improvement
The scoreboard now has extra space and a divider line between the team name and the 1st inning, so a team that hasn't scored no longer reads like "BOSO". This applies on the gameboard and on the game detail page.
-
Improvement
In the Draft Season draft room, every pitcher's line now shows his WHIP next to his ERA. You can also sort Available Players by WHIP, lowest first.
-
Bug fix
On a fielder's choice the play-by-play and the announcer now say the lead runner was put out only when he was. When the trailing runner is forced instead, such as the man from first with runners on first and second, they say so.
-
New feature
Full seasons started without Real lineups and starting pitchers can now turn it on from the Lineups tab, which also turns injuries off for the rest of the season. It can be turned back off there too. Games already played stay as they were.
-
New feature
The batting and pitching buttons on the field now show their names under the icons, so you no longer have to hover to tell them apart. To go back to icons only, use the new Button Labels button under Display, below the Game Flow voices.
-
New feature
You can now edit the newspaper article for one of your own games or write your own from scratch with the new Edit Article button. Anyone who views that article sees your version. Restore generated article brings back the original.
-
New feature
The Game of the Day page now shows each team's chance of winning before the game starts, favorite first. It matches where the gameboard's Win Probability chart begins.
-
Bug fix
A box or button you moved onto the field with Edit Positions, such as Change Pitcher, no longer disappears when the window gets smaller. It stays inside the Field card and goes back to its spot when there is room again.
Developer's note: Web browsers have been finicky about display sizes for more than 30 years. Do something unusual with zoom, window size or screen resolution and any website can act unpredictably, ours included. Hand me any web app and enough time playing with its display and I can make it look horrible too.
-
Bug fix
The game screen no longer gets stuck with nothing to click after a decision popup or a play. If the buttons or the decision you need don't show up, they now come back on their own without a page refresh.

-
Improvement
A walk-off no longer draws a glowing square over the middle of the field. The Game Over! banner's border glows and pulses gold instead, and the fireworks still go off. With Animations off the banner keeps its plain border.
-
Improvement
Baserunner names on the field are now white on a dark backing, a little larger and bolder, so you can tell who's on each base over any ballpark photo or the plain field. Runners jogging off after the third out and runners in the on-field animation use the same look.
-
Improvement
Newspaper headlines now name teams the way a real sports page does, by nickname alone ("Dodgers Top Red Sox, 5-3") with no "The" in front. When both teams share a nickname, the headline adds the city so you can tell them apart. The story itself still gives each team's full name the first time it comes up.
-
Improvement
After the final out the box score now opens on its own, once the Game Over banner and the announcer's wrap-up are done. It has buttons to save a single game and to open the newspaper article, and a Box Score button below the field brings it back after you close it.
-
Bug fix
In the on-field animation and play-by-play, a single is shown and called coming off the outfield wall only at parks with a close, tall wall like Fenway's Green Monster or League Park's right field wall. Ground ball singles and bloopers in the animation now get out to the outfielder at a believable pace.
-
Bug fix
In the on-field animation, infielders now charge in on dribblers, slow rollers and bunts that die in front of them, including ones that go for hits, and make any throw from where they picked the ball up.
-
Bug fix
While a play waits on your decision (trying for an extra base, sending a runner or tagging up), the batter's Today's Game line and list of plate appearances now include the hit or out he just made. Once you decide, they show how the play finished.
-
Bug fix
Errors now send the batter as far as they really did in each era. A dropped fly ball often puts him on second and sometimes third, while a booted grounder still usually leaves him at first. The play-by-play, scorebook code, field card and announcer all say where he ended up, and the runners ahead of him move up to make room.
-
Bug fix
Player name searches in the draft room, on the season player screen and in the free agent list now find names with or without accents. Searching Minoso finds Minnie Miñoso and searching Peña finds a player listed as Pena.
-
Bug fix
The send-the-runner and throw-home decisions now wait for the hit to play out on the field. The ball reaches the fielder and the announcer calls it before the decision comes up, even right after a pickoff throw, a steal or any other play. An earlier play's call also no longer cuts in over the next pitch.
-
Bug fix
A single game between two teams from the same year now gets a newspaper article dated in that year. The 1939 Red Sox and 1939 Dodgers play on today's month and day in 1939. Games between teams from different years still use today's date and season games keep their scheduled date.
-
Bug fix
Fielders now move to make bunt plays on the field. The pitcher comes off the mound to field a bunt, the corner infielders and catcher charge in on theirs and a first baseman who fields a bunt or starts a 3-6-3 double play gets back to first base for the out.
-
Bug fix
The batter who just hit now stays on the board until his play is over on the field. His figure at the plate, the Now Batting card and his lineup spot no longer jump to the next batter while the ball is still in play. With animations off the next batter still shows right away.

Bug fix
A force out that ends the inning is no longer called a fielder's choice with the batter safe, by the announcer or in the play-by-play. The announcer now starts his call as the ball is hit and finishes it as the play is made, the batting and pitching buttons wait until the fielders have left the field after the third out and runners stay on their bases while the pitcher gets set.
-
Bug fix
The announcer no longer calls a play before it happens on the field. He waits until the ball lands, the catch is made or the throw arrives, then calls the runners once they reach their bases. With animations off he still calls the play right away.

New feature
Owners in a Draft Season with friends can now trade players with each other from the new Trades page. The other owner can accept, decline or counter an offer, and the commissioner approves or vetoes each accepted trade. The commissioner can also set a trade deadline, which shows on Key Dates. Computer teams don't trade yet.
