Improvement
Logged-in players can now hide the play-by-play commentary on the Field card with a new button beside the Play-by-Play button, and resize its box by dragging the box's edge. A taller box shows the game's earlier plays above the current one. Now Batting stays visible either way and your choices carry over to every game.
-
New feature
Draft leagues can now set how many position players and pitchers each team carries, plus reserves who start the season in the Minor Leagues. A 30-man league can draft 15 hitters, 11 pitchers and 4 reserves, for example.
-
New feature
When at least five players in a team's batting order have photos, that batting order is now introduced card by card before the team's first time up, with each player's photo, name, position and stats. A Skip Lineup button goes straight to the game.
-
New feature
New setup option for cross-era games, Adjust for league quality. Players from weaker leagues keep less of their edge against stronger competition and players from stronger leagues keep more.
-
New feature
With 3D Ball Flight on, every at-bat now starts with the pitcher throwing to the plate before the result plays out on the field. A strikeout shows only the pitch, with a K! flashing in front of the catcher.
-
New feature
Seasons can now include a Field of Dreams game: one mid-August game moves to the cornfield ballpark in Dyersville, Iowa, flagged on every team's schedule and written up in the newspaper. Games now play like the ballpark they're in, including one you pick for a single game.
-
New feature
Advance Day has new Sim Week and Sim Week Except My Team buttons that sim the next seven days at once, stopping at the All-Star break and the end of the regular season. In World Series mode, Sim Series plays out every remaining game until a team clinches.
-
New feature
The Now Pitching box now shows the pitcher's line for today's game, matching the box score. Hover or tap it to see his hits, runs, walks, strikeouts, home runs and pitch count so far.
-
New feature
The play-by-play now gives every strategy call its own line, whether you or the computer manager made it. Defensive calls show up the moment they're set. The batting side's call shows up as the pitch is thrown.
-
Improvement
The gameboard's sliders for sound, crowd noise, commentary speed and field width have a new look with a larger knob that's easier to grab. The track fills in up to your setting and shows a small notch at each stop. The Zoom slider for cropping your avatar got the same look.
-
New feature
The wide layout button on the Field card now has a slider next to it for picking a width between normal and full. The button still switches straight between the two. When you're logged in, your width carries over to every game in every mode until you change it. Fielders and the ballpark photo you move are saved separately for each width.

New feature
When a batter steps in, the gameboard's commentary now sizes up the matchup: season numbers for both players on the batter's first trip to the plate, then the batter's results today and how the pitcher's outing is going on later trips. All commentary under the Now Batting card now types in one word at a time, and a slider next to the Play-by-Play button sets how fast.
-
New feature
The Win Probability chart on the gameboard can now be resized by dragging the grip in its bottom-right corner, and the chart stretches to fill it. Your browser remembers its size, spot and pin for your next game, and a chart left pinned open opens pinned again. Resizing isn't available on phones.
-
New feature
The gameboard now has a Sim to End button that has the computer manage both teams for the rest of the game, from wherever it stands to the final out. It's there for logged-in players in single games, seasons, the postseason, the All-Star Game and the World Series. The game finishes on the normal final with every play in the game log.
-
New feature
The gameboard now has separate volume sliders for sound effects and ambient crowd noise, next to each one's on/off icon. Each level sticks for the rest of the game.
-
Improvement
On a player's season stat page, each table for your season now sits directly above the same table for his real year, so you can compare the two lines without scrolling. This covers batting, advanced batting, pitching, advanced pitching and fielding.
-
New feature
Custom Season setup now has the same Team Names and Ballparks section as Custom Draft Season, so you can give any picked team a new name, abbreviation or home ballpark for that season. A renamed team keeps its real players and plays just as the real team does.
-
New feature
Every finished game's box score now shows the attendance. Crowds follow what the home club really drew that season, never top the ballpark's seating and rise or fall with how the club is doing in your season.
-
New feature
A Restart Game button at the top of the gameboard starts the game in progress over from the first pitch, after you confirm. Nothing from the discarded game is kept. Season, World Series, All-Star and exhibition games go back to their pregame screen with lineups rebuilt from your current saved lineups and rotation.

New feature
While editing positions on the gameboard, a small compass beside Done Editing moves the ballpark photo up, down, left or right inside the field card. The center button puts the photo back in its usual spot. Your setting is saved for each park and screen size.
-
Improvement
The gameboard's sound effects are now real ballpark recordings in place of the old beeps. You hear the crack of the bat as the ball leaves it, the crowd building while a long fly hangs in the air and a home crowd that cheers the home team and groans at the visitors. The umpire calls ball four on walks and the out on runners caught stealing or picked off. For the fullest ballpark feel, turn on Ambient Crowd Noise too: each play's crowd rises right out of that background murmur.
-
New feature
Opening Day now gets the same flag bunting over the field as postseason and All-Star games, for every team's first game of the season.
-
New feature
Hover over (or tap) the batter's line for today's game on the Now Batting card to see how each of his earlier plate appearances went, inning by inning, such as 3rd: Doubled to right, 2 RBI.
-
Bug fix
In the draft room, the Filter team to match team currently drafting checkbox now stays the way you left it for each draft when you reload the page or come back later.
-
New feature
A new Open Engine page lays out the odds behind every CPU manager decision, era by era, from lineups and pitching changes to bunts, steals and roster moves. Find it on the baseball home page and in How to Play.
