Great question and sorry for the delay in getting to you here. Negro League players have their own mode. On the Baseball home page, click the Negro Leagues card under Choose How to Play.

Pick a season (any year from 1904 to 1948 except 1905), then pick a team to run as GM. That team's roster is built from its real players for that year, and it plays its home games at its real home park when one is on record.

To manage Josh Gibson, pick the Pittsburgh Crawfords in any year from 1932 to 1936. He's also on the Homestead Grays in 1930, 1931, 1937 to 1940 and 1942 to 1946.

A suggestion here ... for the most Hall of Famers on one roster, try the 1933 or 1934 Crawfords. You get Gibson, Cool Papa Bell, Oscar Charleston, Judy Johnson and Satchel Paige, with home games at Greenlee Field. On the Grays from 1937 on, Gibson hits alongside Buck Leonard, and Cool Papa Bell joins them from 1943 to 1946.

A few things to know:

- Negro League players stay with their own teams. Custom League doesn't offer Negro League teams.
- Day-by-day schedules for these leagues mostly weren't kept, so your schedule is generated to match each team's real total games for that year.
- Some team-years can't be picked because too few of their players are on record to field a full team. The setup page lists those under "Some teams aren't available."

The full walkthrough is in the docs under Run a Negro League Season:

Hope this helps.
